Sorry if this is an already explored topic. I'm already using a Lone Wolf Harp delay and Octave pedal, the Octave to control feedback more than anything. I'm wondering what experiences others have had with the Tone+, Harp Break and Harp Attack pedals. I've viewed most of the videos and sound clips available, but none of them use same setup as I do.

My current setup is mostly a Harpgear HG2 amp (sometimes and old Premier 110), with either a Shure PE53 or an ElectroVoice 638 mic. Other pedals include an EH Micro POG and a chorus pedal. I'm leaning on picking up an Ultimate 57 mic from Greg also.

I'm currently not gigging, just house playing, but if and when I do gig, I'm debating on either something like a Harp Attack/delay through DI box to PA, or picking up an HG50, Mission Chicago or Cruncher... (boy can I dream).

Thanks for whatever thoughts you might have.

There are MANY ways of attacking this. Personally, I like clean amps for using effects. I, therefore, got a Harp Break for my overdrive pedal. The Harp Attack would sound better, but it is noisy when turning on and off.

You'll probably save a lot of money going with gear into the PA rather than an amp. If you outgrow the PA and really need an amp on stage (and like your PA sound), you can get a loud and clean amp much cheaper than a harp specific amp.

What I do now, with my coverband, is run my pedal board into the PA and take a monitor out to a powered monitor (QSC K10). I can also run vocals to my monitor. It works great.

In most cases, a mid-sized amp would be more than enough for your stage volume, but the holy grail for that is elusive (hence my thinking a good PA rig into a clean amp, like a keyboard or bass amp) might serve you well.

The Harp Attack no longer has the issue of popping when turning on & off. It works great with the Harp Tone+ to control feedback and give you a really FAT tone with great bottom end. These work great through a PA and also with any amp and especially with small amps because it delivers a strong bottom end that is missing in the small amps due to a small sized speaker.

I need to try the Harp Break into a small amp with the drive down and bass up...hadn't thought of that. I had heard, as of a few weeks ago, even the new HB had some noise when turning off and on, but it is too late for me now...the small profile of the HB fits my board perfectly.

I finally got a decent home computer and will eventually do a video on it.

Looks like maybe I'll be trying out a few more Lone Wolf products...

@Cisco

So you feel both HA and Tone+ would work well with HG2 with 8" speaker? I was once told by Randy at Lone Wolf that the Harp Attack wouldn't do much for my amp except at low volume.

@HarpNinja

Please let me know how HB works with your small amp.

I like my Harp Break into Boss DM2 then into my '67 Champ. It seems to fatten things up and adds a bit of bottom.

Yes both pedals will work well but you may not really need the HA with the champ-like HG2 because the HA mimics a small champ amp overdriven, but the Tone+ sure will make a hugely noticeable improvement.

Also my HA does not make any noise when hitting the on/off foot switch. It has the upgraded tube in it that fixes the old HA issue.

Maybe I'll check out the Tone+ and the Harp Break then. Randy offers a 30-day trial on his pedals. I'll just worry about PA setup if and when it comes into play.

I have a Harp attack that I use right into the PA when I gig with my duo. IMO the Harp Attack and the lone wolf delay sound good together. When I play with a full band I use an HG2 lined out to the PA. You could try that rather than shelling out major coin for a cruncher, HG 50, etc. Of course, shelling out major coin for a new amp is fun.

I use HarpAttack a lot and I have two of them: one is old style, give me ringing eb6 tone when I press it on, and as it was Randy's fault (He's great guy, he promised me new one, send wrong, but then send me right fo free) he send me the new one, with Russian tube inside. BTW, they sounds really different, the old one have more compression (a bit overcompressed for my taste) and more bottom end (perfect!), while the new one have more natural tone, but slightly lesser bass that I want. Anyway I prefer using the new one live as it's not noisy and I get bunch of spare tubes for pedal, while I use the old one for studio mostly. I really love HarpAttack to big solid state amps. It was really perfect tone when I play gigs to Fender Stage 100 and H&K Warp 7 at large festivals. No feedback, bunch of volume and bass. I also use HA with my tube amp (copy of Fender Pro Jr, Jensen c10q speaker) when I have to play very quiet gig and I can't boost my tube amp to be overdriven good. When I have to be loud with my tube amp I prefer to turn HA off, and to boost amp's input using MXR 6band EQ at 200 Hz and 1,6kHz, while reducing 400-800 Hz and 3,2kHz and higher.
HA is also good for PA, but not perfect, I'm looking for better solution now.
I also had LoneWolf Harpdelay it was really good with harpattack to PA, it helped against feedback very much, as it rolloff highs, but this rolloff wasn't in my taste and I trqade it for MXR Carbon COpy which I really love, but I suppose HarpDelay v.2 will fit my style too, hope I'll try it once.

I have a HarpAttack and it sounds fantastic. Makes the amp more cutting (in my opinion).
