I love practicing amplified but when someone else is home I cannot. I'm sure this is the case for a lot of players. I came up with a way to crank it up, even when I need to be quiet. My wife says it is even softer than practicing acoustically. I use a Honeytone Mini Amp, a Bottle O Blues mic, a 3 ft. 1/4 male to 1/4 male instrument cable, and two types of ear/headphones that I have for my Ipod. For the amp I use a set of the earphones that kind of hang inside the hole in your ear. I put them in so they are just barely hanging in my ears. Do not try to make them seal. I then use a very light set of headphones to come out of the Ipod which has my favorite tunes and backing tracks.. The headphones fit nicely over the ear buds and hold them in place. I try to play with a soft volume so I set the mini amp volume to a point that I can hear it well with minimal playing effort. Then I set the Ipod to match. I think it works great. Sometimes it sounds like you are actually in the mix. With this setup I was amazed that I could overdrive the little amp and set it to get a cool crunch tone. You can get a great sealed cup around the Bottle O Blues. This is why it is quieter than acoustic playing. I find it to be a lot of fun and by clipping the amp on your belt you can do this anywhere. A 9 volt battery lasts longer than you would think with the amp too. This is also helping me to play more relaxed and with minimal effort....all in the settings.

My Bottle o blues mic just died on me two weeks ago. If I open the top of the mic's spice jar top and put my finger along the edge where it's siliconed on, it works. So probably part of the seal. Anyhow, I got one of those $49 JT-30's to replace it and I like it a lot more. Less prone to feedback, too. Kind of heavy though. Your set-up sounds like a lot of fun.

@Joch230,. sounds like you have a loose wire on that Bottle o blues,.never saw one,. but the silicone is more than likely the gasket an when you push on it your making a connection. ---------- Simply Unique Kustom Mic's By Rharley
