Hey,
I got a pretty new seydel solist pro.
After only about 2 weeks of use I started getting a rattling noise on the 4 blow that would come and go.. I can't really reproduce it at will.
I read that it could be the read hitting the reed plates, and it probably is, only that the problem does not happen all the time.
Could this be a loose reed or something of the sort?
Do you guys think there is any chance they will replace it at the store? Do music stores often replace harmonicas that you claim are faulty?

yep.
I shined light through the reed plates and it seems pretty roomy all around. I also passed a thin plastic sheet between the reed and cover plate to make sure there is nothing in between.
But I guess it makes sense that there isn't - otherwise I would always get the rattling noise.

There is a burr. Contact rupert oysler at Seydel, he'll take care of it.

Don't know about seydel, but I contacted Suzuki once direct to complain about a persistent rattle on my Promaster 350V and they replaced it.

It is unlikely the reed is hitting the cover plate on hole 4.

As mentioned it could be a burr. If you have no luck with Seydel you could take the cover plates off and run an 0.05 feeler gauge shim between the slot and reed (both sides) which may shift the burr then plink the reed a few times to see if that clears it.

I live outside of the states, so I doubt he could help me with it - unless you mean that he could explain how to go about fixing it.
I guess if seydel don't help I can just ask them to help me out at the shop.. when I bought it they told me they do free repairs for anything bought there.
