A few weeks ago, one of David Barrett's videos with the Mark Hummel band stirred up some controversy. On one of Billy Branch's instructional videos, he talks about the topic of etiquette. He provides some advice for people trying to break onto the scene. It seemed worth passing on.

Yup-jumping on stage is NEVER a good idea, even if you know the band, unless you are invited. Some folks just don't get this, though.

I won't let anyone sit in with me unless I have heard/seen them play or a solid reference from someone I know is made for the person, or at least they took the time to talk with me offstage. If they're visibly intoxicated, it ain't happening, period. Don't need some drunk assclown breaking everyone's gear, running the crowd off, pissing off the bar owners, etc.

I liked his Big Walter unintentional head-cutting story, too. Good thing he didn't decide to play La Cucaracha first!
