What he's saying in a nutshell is that room acoustics play a big role here and most players never take that into account.
As for speaker size, it depends on the amp it's with, the way the speakers are made, and of course, acoustics. Greg and Bob are right. The amps are different in those two videos as well. The amp does make a difference.
In the second video, the MA-17 was plugged into the pair of 8's in the my Harpgear Double Trouble. That combo didn't cut well enough to be heard at a jam. When the Double Trouble was plugged into the 2x8 configuration, it cuts way better than the Masco.
In that second video, the room has a super high ceiling. There is a natural echo in that room.
