Nat Riddles, late 1980s

This photo was taken by Beth Horsley in Richmond, VA, where Nat became a part of the local blues scene between 1985--when he left New York City--and 1991, when he died of leukemia. This is the Nat I remember: focused, balanced, intense, inimitable. Oh: and if you'd like a sample of Nat's playing, here's a live recording I made on June 30, 1989 down on Wall Street, where Nat and his longtime guitar-man, Charlie Hilbert, had gone to play the streets while Nat was in town from Richmond, VA for the weekend. The song is entitled "Easy": www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/1967321
