I've been thinking about Powerdraw or Powerbend lately because I want to play the second octave blues scale and I don't overblow. But even a normal draw bend on holes 7 and 8 is a little tuff for me depending on the key of the harp. Instead of having to bend to get the blues scale, why not configure a Seydel to play the blues scale in holes 7-10? Has no one ever done this? I just play blues and some simple jazzish tunes, so I don't care if I can't play major scale stuff.

I've thought of carrying the idea even further with the pentatonic scale. You could get four octaves on a diatonic. I can do a lot on guitar with the pentatonic scale exclusively, it would be cool to have that same thing with harp.

Bob, I’ve remember trying something similar by starting the 2nd blues octave on b6 then continuing on b7, d7 bend, b8, d8, b9, d9. I believe b10 was tuned to Re and d10 to Mi.

I didn’t keep that tuning but I based it on a 2 octave major semi-circular tuning that I still play today. Obviously there are always pros and cons: cords, splits... It’s not hard to tune or swap reeds so I prefer to hack a spare harp, but yes the Seydel custom option is fantastic.

I think you should try your tuning idea and give us a video review so if it’s cool I can make one. :)

It's about time I got around to this.
