We just returned from Montana’s Big Sky Blues Festival. Fantastic venue with camping on the river… Hank Shreve was in the lineup and so was Westside Andy, so I figured there would be some great harp playing. Hank was amazing on the 10 hole, chromatic, lap slide, keyboard, and vocals. We talked briefly after his set, while Andy was taking the stage with Revered Raven. Hank made it clear that we were about to be impressed.
Wow! I was familiar with Andy from some poking around on the internet and youtube… but I was honestly not ready for this. There were a couple of young guys standing next to me that stopped swapping lies about 30 seconds into Andy’s first solo. To put it in their words “This guy is a f**king bad ass!!!”
I’m not sure why Andy Linderman was not high on my list of must see greatest players alive.
August is going to be a great month for the bucket list, catching Charlie Musselwhite on the 25th.

I love Westside Andy and think he is one of the strongest blues harp players working today.

Westside Andy will be playing at the Wisconsin Annual Blues Harmonica Festival on Friday November 16th here in Milwaukee.

Man, I am jealous. Montana in August. I'm down here in Dallas breathing exhaust and benzene. Apologies to the folks in CA breathing smoke.

Yes I got to meet Andy here is Pensacola a few months month ago. He was great. I even got to play through his rig. A real nice guy.
