Pretty hot here today so I thought I'd duck in and have a quick go at this classic Summer song in 3rd on a G harp. Slow then uptempo. Now back out again....Phew!

1. Sign up for the free version of Dropbox and download onto your desktop computer
2. Upload your mp3 or wav sound file and place it in their Public Folder
3. Hover over the file and click on the chain icon to view the Dropbox link and copy and paste it into a word processing software on your computer.

The link will look something like this but with your own dropbox file name

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fi6h6qf8nm0194/rue%20doisneau.wav?dl=0

You then need to delete the www. and replace with dl. Next delete the ?dl=0 at the end of the line and finally place Quote Marks before the https and at the end of the line.

So now it will look like this.

Next you need to Add

<audio src=

before the https and at the end of the line add

controls>Rue Doisneau</audio><br />

You can put your own song title where I have put Rue Doisneau

So the Final Code will look something like this.

<audio src="https://dl.dropbox.com//s/0fi6h6qf8nm0194/rue%20doisneau.wav" controls>Rue Doisneau</audio><br />

Copy and paste yours on the Forum and it should bring up the player like this:-

The sample is of me playing acoustic version of part of the song Rue Doisneau by JJ Milteau on a Bb harp.

p.s You can try your experimentation HERE on the 'OT: Practice Your Forum Skills' to see if it works.

Sounds very good Grey Owl!

Enrico Morricone has a patent on the sliding first three notes, though. I can't help thinking you are about to play the death theme.

Try playing those notes with more or less clean transitions and stretch the timing.

Thanks a lot Rontana!

Thanks the_happy_honker!
That's interesting, I'm going to have a go at that. Re the Death Theme, I had a listen again for the first time in years. It's such a wonderful melody, I wonder how tricky it would be on harp.

If that was a 3 hole second inhale bend, you are fearless.

If it is a special tuned harmonica, let us know, OK?

Nice one Iceman. I haven't succumbed to alternate tunings yet but that is not to say I haven't been sorely tempted! Yes -3**

Nice one Grey Owl. One of my guitarist friends likes doing the tempo change. Slow to fast and jazzy. Adds a little something extra You nailed it ... Cheers.

That 3 draw whole step bend sounds smooth as butter. Nice job! Where can I acquire vibrato like yours...

Good question. I guess I do favour 2 draw mainly because if the song calls for a following 2 draw bend I can scoop down for effect when wanted. But if a song calls for a lot of consecutive draw action it's nice to land on a 3 blow to get rid of some air!

I have been recently practising a song which has the phrase

Using 3 blow +3-3** +3-3** +3-3**
Using 2 draw -2-3** -2-3** -2-3**

I found it a bit easier to use 3 blow because I could shape my mouth/tongue ready for the -3** and play the straight blow 3 with this shape. So breathe out, breathe in breathe out, breathe in on the same hole. Whereas starting with 2 draw I had to slide back and forth to -3**.

There is another choice at the end of the song whether to finish on the +3 where I used diaphragm tremolo or the 2 draw where I used a little vibrato

As an exercise for me I tried both ways and probably favour the +3 in this instance.

This is the -2 sample where I'm playing a Bb harp

And this is the +3 sample

Full tab using +3 throughout

+3+3(-3**/-3)-4-4+5-4(-3/-3**)+3+3+2+3
+3(-3**/-3)-4-4+5-4 (-3/-3**/-3/-3**)+3+2+3
+3-3** +3-3** +3-3**-3-2*-1+2-1
+3-3** +3-3**-3/-3**+3+3 tremolo

Full Tab using -2 throughout

-2-2-3-4-4+5-4(-3/-3**)-2-2+2-2
-2-3-4-4+5-4(-3/-3**/-3/-3**)-2+2-2
-2-3**-2-3**-2(-3**/-3)-2*-1+2-1
-2-3**-2-3**/-3/-3**-2-2

Of course this is just me and others may prefer the -2 on this phrase.

It's a good practical workout to see where your preference lies.

I've taken the two extremes in this example and in practice I might use the 2 draw occasionally in this song.

Thanks very much guys. Much appreciated.

Not so long ago there were many websites offering discrete embed music players for free which let you place audio samples of your playing on forums. Now there is only Soundcloud, that I can find anyway and it's a bulky player.

Dropbox used to have one where you simply copied the embed code of your mp3 uploaded on dropbox and copy and paste it on the forum. They no longer offer this but there is a workaround if you're prepared to do a little work and this is best done on a desktop rather than a smartphone.

First go to the Dropbox website (if you're not already with them) website and choose the free option rather than the 'paid for' business plans.

Then to get the Dropbox Music Player on the Forum Upload your MP3 or Wav music file to Dropbox (you will be given a choice where to put it and you need to choose Public Folder). Next hover over your track when it appears in the Public Folder and click on the 'chain link' icon to obtain the Dropbox URL which looks something like this in my example.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fi6h6qf8nm0194/rue%20doisneau.wav?dl=0

You then need to delete the www. and replace with dl. Next delete the ?dl=0 at the end of the line and finally place Quote Marks before the https and at the end of the line.

So the above now looks like this

Next you need to Add

<audio src=

Game of thrones has been a very popular Fantasy tv series in the UK (don't know if it has had a large following Stateside and elsewhere) The season 8 and series Finale has not all that long ago been screened in the UK. Dragons featured heavily in the closing episodes.

It's always fun to have a go at tv themes and this one is a dramatic song played on the Cello. I'm playing a Bb Special 20
