My usual 2nd position default is not so easy on this classic song but it pans out quite nicely in 12th.
Tab:-
-2 = draw hole 2; -3* = half step draw bend on hole 3; -3**= 1 step draw bend on hole 3; +2 = blow hole 2.
Song Start -2-2**-2** (impro fill phrase-2**-2-2**-1+2) -3**-3-4*-4+5-5+5-4-4 ((impro fill phrase+4-3*) -4-4+4-3*-3**-2-3*-3**-3**,-2-2**-3**-2-1-2**-3**-3**. Repeat phrase above then into chorus below
-3**-3**-4+5-5+5-4+5-4+4-4-3**, -3**-3**-4+5-5+5-4+5-4+4+5-5+4-3*-3** Then back to top and go through again to the end of the chorus.
Then -2-2**-2** (impro fill phrase-2**-2-2**-1+2) -3**-3-4*-4+5-5+5-4-4 ((impro fill phrase+4-3*) -4-4+4-3*-3**-2-3*-3**-3**,-2-2**-3**-2-1-2**-3**-3**. -2**-3**-2-1-2**-3**-3**.
Very nice version. I play it in 3rd, but your version gives you some darker intonations. I may try to learn it that way.
I'm not sure what it is about it, but once I got some chops under my belt I could pick off the melodies for a lot of Beatles songs, but Yesterday gave me fits. Probably just because I was doing everything in first or second. That one and Strawberry Fields.
Cheers Nate. I'm much like you in finding Beatles music fun to try out. The songs have got the advantage of being well ingrained in the mind and so easier to work out on the harp although some of their what appear to be simple melodies are surprisingly tricky.
Strawberry Fields is a fine song and had me a bit stumped playing in 2nd position starting -3-3+4-3-2-1+2-3**-2-1 I found that I couldn't find a fill note between the lyrics as it was lower in pitch than my C harp would go. However, I have only one valved richter harp luckily in the key of C and was able blow bend down on Hole 1 to get the note!
