Very nice! I play it in 1st starting on 4 blow but you must be an overblower to play it all. I'll work on this for sure. Love to hear your take on Rocky Top!..lol

Nice instruction, great playing. Like Harpdude61, I play this in 1st using an overblow. I have started working on internalizing your lesson to play it in 12th. I have found when playing in public, this song is the most likely to get passersby to spontaneously sing along.

I sometimes play wrong notes that sometimes fit. I think I do it in Yankee Doodle and Amazing Grace. I play Y.D. in first, and start A.G. on a three blow. I also play Somewhere Over the Rainbow in first. The problem is I've played them wrong enough that now I'm not sure where the 'right' notes go.

Nate, whenever I find myself unsure of the right notes, I go to one of the music download sites like SheetMusicPlus.com or MusicNotes.come and for a couple of bucks I can download a lead sheet.

I'm glad Konstantin is posting these lessons here because there is nothing like trying to play an actual melody with expression and musicality to convince you that working on intonation of the bends (and overblows) is a good thing to do. Also, it's good ear training. Thanks, Konstantin.

Twelfth position is cool because you get two full octaves with 5ths of the major scale at each extreme end. That's a pretty useful range of notes.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Oh yes, playing a melody like this is way harder than playing fancy overblow stuff. Of course it's great in 1st position, too.
@KC69
You can find the link to the backing track in the description box below the video.
Best,

Nice work Konstantin and lovely control of the 3 draw bends. I had never thought of 12th position for this and it works well all through without overblows and provides a good workout on the lower hole bends especially the two on 3 which are hard to get sweet. I did a youtube video in 2nd position which is an ok position needing a 5OB but only uses the double step bend on 3.

I've got to give 12th a go. Thanks.
