I'm going to be arriving in London on July 28th, the day before I teach and perform at Greg Miller's London harmonica school. (Pierre Lacocque will also be there.)

I'm thinking it would be fun to busk that afternoon and/or evening, a Thursday. I'll have my one-man band setup. I can bring one Mouse, I think.

Anybody know a guitar man who would be interested and a pitch where I could do this? I'm assuming that battery powered amps are frowned upon.

I'll be playing with him on Wednesday, July 27, two months after that. Eddie has graciously invited me (after I emailed him) to join him for a duo performance at his weekly gig in Bristol.

I'm thinking of inviting him to drive to London with me on Thurs. July 28 and busking on the streets of London. You think we can make that happen?

What an opportunity! Come on you Poms... One of you has to stick your hand up for this.

Hi Adam

I live in London. Most places are fine I think, even with amplified sound. I've seen full band set ups with PAs busking in some of the main busy areas such as Oxford Street and Camden Town, Hackney Central, Brixton.

From what I understand you can busk anywhere except the Royal Parks and Covent Garden.

If it was me I'd probably head for Camden. It's pretty central, always busy and an interesting part of town. Loads of markets, bars, music venues etc. There's a blues bar down the street there too (The Blues Kitchen). Oxford Street is one of the main shopping streets in London so loads of people but a bit less interesting in terms of culture.

I did a quick Google and this came up. I've not read it but it looks like it should have most of the information you'd need – buskinlondon.com.

EDIT: I just looked up Camden on the above website. It said that Camden has it's own scheme which I then looked up. Looks like you need a licence. – https://www.camden.gov.uk/ccm/content/business/business-regulations/licensing-and-permits/licences/other-licences/busking-licence/.

I can ask a few guitarist / singers I know

Also I'd suggest dropping a line to Greg Miller - he runs a regular jam so would know plenty of guitarists.

I suspect I'll need an amp to be heard over my drumset.
