Well, best is subjective but here is a selection of 3 very good live performances from British Bands. Hope you like.
Lyndon Anderson (Slow)There is a small 15sec segment of an interview at 2min14secs blended in with the song then the solo kicks in and slowly builds to a crescendo. It's difficult to maintain interest in a long number like this but he does a very good job changing the texture with cupping, varying intensity and phrasing and technique.
West Weston (Medium)A real showman and crowd pleaser with great chops and a decent voice. Like the way they play around with this number.
Will Wilde (Fast)Another good stage presence. Great energy in this song. Really like the compressed shimmers too and the acoustic/amplified changeup.
West Weston is one of my favourites! I like his swingin style! I wish he will record an album one day! ---------- Konstantin Kolesnichenko(Ukraine) CDBaby Amazon ITunes Google Music my music on youtube

Yes West gets my vote too, an album is overdue. I like his stage presence as well his playing, the crowd always seems to have a good time in the videos I've seen.
Acoustic + High end playing strolling thru the Pub
I have a Fender Bassman and a Deville [both 4x10].
I've never had the chance to try different valves. I did mess around with the pre amp ones for a while. I tried the lower gain ones that many players rave about. It wasn't for me.
I also had some mods done to my Bassman when I first had it. I had them all taken off and now my amps are just stock.
I used crystal mics for over 25 years but they started to let me down and I no longer trust them. I love the sound and tone of a good crystal but now my regular mics are the Shure CM / CR type.
I always use a delay pedal and sometimes an AFB+ by Kinder. The amp on the Wilko/ Daltrey session was a Quilter transistor amp.
ValleyDuke Yeah he's got a good thing going on and he is very active on Youtube as well as having loads of Gigs.
As you said, Owl, it's all subjective - horses for courses, you might say ;).
Finally had the chance to have a look at this thread yesterday. Watched the Lyndon Anderson vid, and was seriously impressed with the way he kept it interesting right to the end. Then I let the West Weston one run to about the 5 minute mark, where I turned it off cos it didn't really do anything for me. My wife, who was sitting beside me, said "Thank god for that. I didn't want to say anything, cos I thought you were enjoying it, but he's not exactly Mr. Personality, is he?". I wonder what we're missing, as it was as though she'd read my mind.
No comment required on the Will Wilde clip. He's been one of my favourites since I discovered his yoochoob tutorials about 4 months or so ago. There's just something about his whole attitude, as well as his actual playing, that speaks straight to my harp.
@ ValleyDuke - need to have a closer look when I have the time. Not sure, but the bassist could be his sister. I know she plays a mean guitar, and the two of them also do some great stuff together.
I'm not going to try to convince you that West is 'Mr Personality' cos at the end of the day we like what we like. Maybe the other two vids show more of his interaction with the crowd , but you may not agree and that's cool.
Will Wilde did a neat acoustic number with his Sister Dani HERE.
ValleyDuke That's the same live performance as the one I posted above, but it was great to listen to it again;) He's awesome!
Thank you Grey Owl, I suspected something along those lines. He sounds ... expensive. Kinda fun that he used a transistor amp on that record. Could have me fooled, although I´m certainly no amp expert, but for the valve fundamentalists it could be interesting listening. It´s no backdraw that he has good tone.
@ Owl - after your last post, I decided to give the other Weston vids a watch after all. Much more my kettle of fish, I reckon they'd be well worth seeing in the local ;)
Thank you Chinaski for added info on Weston´s rig. From what I could hear on the (slightly muddy) recordings from the Shepherd´s Bush gig w/ Daltrey-Wilko, ha can also travel with that sound. Sounds like an unpretentious nice guy as well.
I went to see Steve play with Mud Morganfield last year. What a great band and Steve of course is a superb harp player. He was using the stock De-ville with delay and a couple Kinder pedals (the anti-feedback and a mid-bass cut). It sounded awesome. Chatted to him afterward - really nice guy.
