I got an email today verifying that my Ultimate 545 mic had just shipped from Blows Me Away Productions. Ever since I saw Jason Ricci use his I have wanted one and I finally saved up enough to get it. It got me thinking of other purchases I would love to get my hands on- What is your dream purchase for your harmonica gear- Custom harps from a specific guy- a special amp you have your eye on. or a guitar pedal or harp pedal that makes you drool. Sound off below- :)
Have gone through no end of tube PA heads and various combos, buying and selling and trading up for many years, I now own pretty much all of my dream gear with one exception, a Danelectro Commando. ---------- LSC
I don't think I could go buy my dream set right away; I'd have to start by getting custom harp from each customizer to see which one worked best for me. After that it would be some hard choices. I love bright colored combs, but I also love combs that have been cut down a bit- old pre-MS Blues Harp covers, because of the way the ends don't go all the way out, make for a good starting point- you can round the corners by sanding the comb and reed plates, and I really like their tone.
I'd like a full set of ET and full set of Compromise Temperament major tuned harps, from LLD up to high whatever, and a full set of minor tuned and at least a smattering of harmonic minors and some other alternate tunings, and a custom mic from Greg. As for pedals and amps, it's again, one of those things where I'd have to do some comparison, but it would include a loop pedal for sure. I'd also get some top notch recording gear and software.
That said, I'd settle for an alternating set of ET and Compromise tuned majors (which I pretty much have) a handful of alternate tunings (I've got some solo tremolos, a couple harmonic minors, a 365 and some blue tack) and a good mic (which I don't really have). My amp isn't anything fancy, but I can get some good tone by playing with the knobs. New knob covers would be nice! It sure would make it easier to figure out where the setting are at without having to get right on top of it.
Wouldn't mind a foot drum kit either, although it would probably have to be electronic for apartment living.

You won't have you're own set until nobody else want them...I don't see you having a set anytime soon.
Every time I finish up one for me I end up with a list of folks in my head that I would love to hear play it. It always seems to end up with one of them.

I really try to stay out of the 'for sale' thread but...I always have an ear open for any Brad Harrison custom MB's (pre B-Rad) that surface. Wish he would go back to making them. Incredible machines.

My setup does what I want. Set of good custom harps would be great, but my mics and amps are all I need- great Heuman modded dynamic EV m43u, Shure 585s, Astatic 332. Main amp is a late 70's Vibro Champ 5w, also have a Silvertone 1482. Lone Wolf Digi Delay. It has taken a long time to settle on what I want and need, now I think I'm all set. Defining one's sonic needs first is a must. Having only recently started back on harp, my 'dreams' are small. I only have a little busking amp at the moment. Every time someone posts a pic of a decent stage am that's all tweed or some such thing with a nice grill (not of that 2001 A Space Odyssey big black crap), I drool all over the keyboard. I would love something like that.
