Hi guys. The mobile version of this site working now, so if you log in on mobile it should be a better experience than before. There may still be some hiccups, so if you are having any problems let us know. Are the footers at the bottom of the page displaying correctly? (Blue Moon, Spiers and North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic?) Are play and display options working (i.e. are the pics and videos working?) It may vary from device to device. They seem to work for me on my tablet and PC. There may be hiccups, so let us know and we'll update the FAQ and submit any support tickets needed.

Thanks,
Nate

I must say I've not been this impressed since Shaun Gussow's trumpet debut. :)

nice clean look, text wraps nicely (providing pics or video don't override) and the drop down menu works really well.

Embedded images, video and sound seem fine so far. Will continue to check and report in...

Hi Nate I'm using a Nexus 7 2014 tablet and I see the original site but shrunk to tablet size. I can enlarge sections with my fingers but I'm not sure I should need to do that.

I logged out then in again and I still get the shrunk version of the original.

Can you give us a clue on what we should be seeing please?

I've recently re-written four of my own sites to be "responsive" to screen size to make them mobile friendly but I don't see any thing like that here.

Where am I going wrong please.

tookatooka - you should see a clean theme with no harmonica image header nor left hand blue menu.

Sounds like your browser isn't telling the site it's a mobile device.

There should be a preference setting for 'user agent' or similar to do just that.

I'm using Android and Chrome. I can see the site correctly (the new version) in Chrome Developer tools at all sizes. The URL for that is m.modernbluesharmonica.com but my tablet defaults to the old www URL for some reason. I may have to leave it till tomorrow, it's getting late.

Thanks Harmless I'll take a look.

Much easier to use. Good work. One thing.... The main page sizes to the precursor text and menu header so you have to zoom out to see the full details of the threads below. This also happens on a couple of the threads when you are in them... Where the menu header is smaller than the thread content. Other than that it's all good. Nice and clean and fast.

Yeah the size is kinda less than perfect on my phone, and it sure makes the intro and creed into a long scroll to get to the posts.

Tookatooka, on Chrome hit the settings button and check if 'Request Desktop Site' is enabled or not. Might be overriding the site default.

HI. Looks great on my phone – iPhone 5s iOS 8.2.

Only small thing is that it all looks fine when viewing landscape, but when looking at it portrait content like videos, banner ads etc and even the forum are too wide and hang off the right hand side of the screen.

That said it is a vastly improved experience. Nice work!

much better! But on the forum page on Chrome for Android, it still has a left to right scrollbar. From what I've heard, Google just changed their formulae so that mobile site that scroll side to side gets knocked down in the ranks, so it's not good for SEO.

Nice start!
There seem to be some scaling issues with the graphics, but it's working pretty well on my Samsung S2 phone.

tooka - 'nothing' meaning the setting had no effect, or that your version doesn't have that setting?

I would try using a different browser at this stage...

Harmless, yes my version does have that setting but it didn't make any difference.

I'm beginning to wonder if it may just be a UK server problem. Any other UK members here who have tried to access the mobile site?

I don't see how using another browser would help since a lot of guys here are using Chrome without any problems. I wouldn't do that just to access this site anyway, the hassle is not worth it.

tooka, thanks for clarifying.

The Chrome app will be tailored for different devices to some extent. That's why testing with a different browser might at least show if the issue is hardware or software. Anyhow, I appreciate your standpoint on switching browsers.

Incidentally, I'm in Birmingham, UK. :)

Ah, yes, that's better. Not sure why, perhaps the shock of the new, or maybe I just prefer the helicopter view, but I'm feeling much more comfortable with the desktop site. I generally don't like mobile specific views but glad those who do now have that option.
I suspect the scaling is designed for the larger than iPhone 4 screens.

Nice improvement Nate - it looks great on my iphone. Nice and uncluttered - black on white is best!

Also, it is now easier to post because you can see the code next to the box where you type it. (I used to have to write the code on a piece of paper, because it was too far away from where you type it, and you could not see it while you typed. This is a HUGE improvement.)

It still does not load on 3G networks. It just spins and times out. All other wesites load fine over 3G, including the other harp forums, news sites, YouTube, etc. So my phone is working fine.

@A440

Many of us are viewing over 3G with no problems, so the fault can't lie (solely) with the site.

It might be that your browser is trying to use less data by loading elements from a stored offline cache which has become corrupted and fails to load... perhaps consider resetting your offline cache or re-installing your browser.

Hope that helps.
