Frank, howdy, don't you already have some Bradicals, and and some Harrison M.B.s?.......those must be some great harps!

@Geezer

This truly is NOTHING compared to some threads I've seen flare up over far less sensitive issues. Considering the subject was labeled OT, and further considering that the jobs of some folks on this very forum are affected by the subject at hand, I don't think it's too much to ask that those folks have a thread on this forum to vent, chime in, explain, or venture opinion in. For once....it seems the creed can be bent so long as everyone keeps behaving.

@Everyone

In the spirit of this thread's topic, a song came to mind for me this afternoon....one that sums up a great deal on this topic, and one that actually has harp in it!!!

PS - Tidbit: that's me playing harp on it in the orchestra pit. ;-)

Sherwin...indeed my friend - I had b-rad reedplates put on to marine band combs with the help of Matt Smart and they are very fine playing harmonicas - I suspect the JS Stage II will be easily as good or even much better.

I'll get in on this..
I'm classified as "essential".. so I am still reporting for work .. I'm in law enforcement.. The irony is that we really can't accomplish anything without the services of the non-essential folks who got sent home.. Furthermore, although we are reporting for work, our paychecks are reportedly to be delayed.. This whole situation is sad and unfortunate but is just another reminder of why we shouldn't live paycheck-to-paycheck and should just assume there will be some hardship come our way.

This situation is bad and it impacts the credibility of the U.S. government and frankly that is the greatest travesty in my opinion.

Love some of the humour expressed. I guess the jokes are on you guys though.

Looking at the Canadian video re healthcare I think it has to be very similar to what we have in Oz. There are good and bad features but everyone gets looked after.

I really hate politics as we have just had elections here after having endured a long boring campaign by our 2 major parties. The ideologies of our major parties are not that different ie there is a huge margin of similarity in what they offer and stand for. Basically the difference can be explained as it is a choice between the spend more or the spend less party. The spend more party is generally the one that introduces reforms and runs us into debt then it's time for a change so the spend less party can create some more surpluses for the spend more party next time to splurge on reforms. We all pay & argue & feel hard done by.

America used to be the place where you work hard and live free.

Now it's a choice - IF you have no goals and could careless about earning a living...You are more then welcomed, even "encouraged" to sign up for a check to be sent to you along with a voters registration, wink wink...

Yes, Deak's harps are great, and my favorites!

Out of the box I like MBDs and Crossovers, then Seydels with steel reeds and Manjis equally. Special 20s and Delta Frosts are decent, too, and more of a bargain.

I don't understand what happend over there.
I don't understand what's wrong with helping each other

I had a gall bladder surgery some years ago. After all was done and i was back in work again it had cost me 100$ total. Included what i lost on not working that week i was on home to recover.

BTW i love this

From Stevelegh,
"I do find it interesting how the mechanics of politics play out in different nations. I'd like to suggest to Mr Ice that UK politics is in some way better, but you watch our guys when Parliament is in session and its like watching a room full of 12 year old hecklers."

:-)

i enjoy watching the antics of your Parliament in session. it often looks as if a fist fight is going to break out but somehow it never does.

I like Crossovers, MBDs, SP/20s, GMs, and pre war MBs (especially mouse ear types, though some single tabs sound gorgeous). i thought i'd switch to Seydel but can't get used to the tone. don't care for steel reed models either. Suzuki makes nice harps like the firebreath and manji but again, i just can't get into the tone. my only deviations from Hohner are a single B-rad and a Suzuki G-48 Chromatic.

Allow me, a Canadian, to talk about the beautiful country to the south of us. The country that 80 percent of the forum members come from, and the country that created the music I loved from the instant I heard it as a child, Blues with a capital B. Thank you, America.

I stay away from politics, usually. This is not the forum to discuss these things, usually.

America has money problems because it threw its money down a bottomless pit called Iraq/Afghanistan. When it stops being the world's policeman, it will recover.

Cheers,

My wife and I went to this theatre at the local Science Center where they have this Giant Curving Screen. They had a movie about the universe - just a beautiful astronomical expanse of space – It’s all basically one huge “recycling” system going on, we humans are all recycled in the end...Kind of cool spinning around in space while being able to live on a planet Earth...No wonder love is so important to the sanity of man – it can get lonely without it :)

@ superbee
Only a fool could think he/she could hold back the government with guns. The guns are because we can't/don't trust the government to protect US. Police are in place to keep the peace and pass out tickets. When the government looses control, like a catastrophe (Katrina for instance), and we are left to fend for ourselves is when "the right to keep and bear arms" kicks in. In addition to being able to hunt and put food on the table. Guns, table knives, or sharp sticks, humans will never keep other humans from killing or taking the belongings of physically weaker persons.
