I'll second just what smwoerner posted. Great selections. But Ludella would be no. 1.

I have a couple of those mentioned, i.e. Ludella, Tigerman and plus-one those. I also have Jimmy Rogers' "Blues, Blues, Blues" on which Kim does a masterful job of comping on many songs.

Hondo - Depends on what you want.

If you want a butt rocking early T-Birds Kim Wilson, then Girls Go Wild is a good one to get.

If you want a more R&B Kim Wilson, then That's Life or Tigerman are good ones to get.

If You want a more straight Chicago style blues Kim Wilson, then My Blues or Ludella are good ones to get.

If You want acoustic style Kim Wilson, then the Barbecue Sessions is a good one to get.

My advice would be to get every album you can.

tmf714 - What is the url for that website?
When I google Kim Wilson the only website I find is the T-Birds one and that doesn't seem to have CD's for sale on it. The only reference I can find to CD set of My Blues is on www.bluebeatmusic.com and that's a 3 CD set. Maybe you can enlighten us all?

Currently, "Smokin Joint Volume 2" is available only at his live shows,as is the " My Blues " 6 disc set.

I would get Ludella. Kim plays great harp on classic tunes.

Nobody's mentioned Kim's recordings with Barrelhouse Chuck. To my ear, Kim's playing on Chuck's 2006 recording, "Got My Eyes On You" is some of his best stuff--Cleo's Mood, alone, is worth the price of the CD. Chuck just came out with another CD featuring Kim: "Drifting From Town To Town"--it's every bit as good as the 2006 recording, has lots of Kim Wilson vocals and playing. I think these are right up there with his Thunderbirds and Jimmy Rogers recordings.
