Here's is a song I just wrote and recorded today, that I'm calling Slow days, Sad nights. It's in the key of B using a three-string cigar box guitar (tuned to open A, but playing in B) and harp in the key of A, but tuned to a custom tuning scheme of my own design I call the "Modern Pentatonic" tuning. I'm playing the harp in B, which is the equivalent of third position on a richter harp. Used my Zoom G3 for all effects and for looping, and recorded direct into the computer in one take. I used Audacity only to add some stereo widening and to render the final MP3. Let me know what you think of the this song (and sound of my tuning scheme)!

PS: More info on my "Modern Pentatonic" tuning scheme can be found here.

The link to the song doesn't seem to be working Isaac.

ps It looks like you've got 2 double apostrophes at the start of the Http part of the code and no double apostrophe at the end of the code.

Yeah, not working. I like the title, at least!

Sorry guys! I fixed the link in my OP (yup, a misplaced quotation mark!), and have double checked that it works now! Hopefully y'all'll have another chance to give it a listen!

Actually, now that I listen to it, I might have been playing in C#... which would put me in the equivalent of fifth position... hmmm....

Actually, it's kind of a moot point since I'm definitely playing in one of the modes of the E major pentatonic scale. Whether the mode I'm using is the one that starts on B or on C#, well, that's more of an open question (and actually, that's the main point of the Modern Pentatonic tuning system)! :)

Isaac , I admire that you do your own thing man. The longer I listened the better it got. Made me think of movie backing music with someone lost and baking in the dessert. Dark and dreary and i mean that as a compliment.

That's an awesome track, Isaac. Just downloaded it - it's going on the iPod. And I agree with harpdude. I can imagine this as a soundtrack. Cool, dark stuff.

ReverbNation doesn't play well with my computer for some reason. For the longest time I couldn't even listen to the songs I posted. Now I don't seem to be able to listen to anyone else's. :(

Isaac,

I loved it. Really sums up how my weekend turned out: a glass of whiskey sour, alone, sitting in a room, writing.

Keep it up! Really special.

Oh wow... Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it! This is a little bit of a new direction for me, and I'm glad that it's not totally out there... I've been wanting to make this kind of music for a long while now, and I've only just now been able to start doing so...

@J-Sin: This song is a direct reflection of how Ii'm feeling as I try desperately to finish a chapter of my dissertation by the end of this weekend. So yeah, you pretty much got exactly that feeling out of it!

I enjoyed that. The title matches the vibe of the song well. It's very atmospheric. Made me want to take out my A harp and explore the territory.

Thanks greyowl and rubes! I appreciate it! And thanks for the reverbnation sub, rubes, that's awesome!

@nacoran: Is it the reverbnation music player widget that doesn't work? or the whole site? Can you download tracks? What browser do you use (and what OS)? Just curious to know the particulars to see if I can help diagnose why it's not working for you...

@jodanchudan: Thanks for the download (I just noticed now that you had done so)! That's a very high compliment!

Cheers,

~Isaac
