""Michal Adler-Gronich, virtuoso harmonica soloist, has continued the tradition of her father, Danny Adler, who founded the world renowned Adler Trio. Michal's musical talents were apparent from a very young age, as she joined her father on stage as a child. In recent years Michal has performed in various ensembles in Israel and abroad, both with her husband, Shlomo Gronich, and as featured soloist with the Adler Trio. She has appeared as a featured artist on numerous television shows, and participates often in recordings for movies and theater.
Michal was guest soloist of the Israel Camerata Orchestra of Jerusalem and performed "Michal", an Israeli Rhapsody for Harmonica and Orchestra. This work won the ACUM (Association of Composers and Musicians in Israel) "Golden Feather Award" for the Year 2000. She has also been featured as soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in a concert that was broadcast live throughout Europe.
"Harmonicadence", a composition in three movements, for harmonica trio, strings and percussion, featuring Michal as soloist, has been the highlight of festivals around the world.
Michal participates as Guest Artist with “Shlomo Gronich and the Sheba Choir” in concert tours in the U.S. and Europe.
The Adler Trio, with Michal as soloist, performs extensively in Israel and around the globe. Michal and the Adler Trio have performed and participated in Artists' Workshops in Hong Kong, and served as superior judges in the International Harmonica Competition.
In 2004, Michal served as a judge in the International Harmonica Festival in Japan. At this event she was presented with a gold plated Harmonica, named in her honor, by Mr. Manji Suzuki, CEO of Suzuki Musical Instrument Manufacturers, thus placing Michal among the foremost harmonica musicians in the world. Can I demonstrate my very limited knowledge of unusual harmonicas? To me it looks like she's playing a very deep chromatic (how come it's so fat?), the guy with the glasses a hinged bass and the other guy a hinged chord. The chord looks very long for a hinged - much more than 48 chords.
