Here's my crack at the intro. Standing a bit close to the mic I'm afraid.
Why record and post? Dunno; I think I'm trying to get to 'own' it, so recording is a bit like an audience, extra level of stuff to think about, potential distraction. I think it might speed things up. Certainly highlights the glitches to me.

I've been working on the LW solo too, but not gonna go there tonight.
I try to get note for note and never really manage that, but in the striving usually find I learn something and also come up with a presentable rendition.
There are some beaut licks in this. Some typical little Walter. I haven't got his 'quacking' over the IV chord yet

I can break this down, and the solo, if anyone is interested.
I think the construction is interesting. It demonstrates how a couple of licks can be used as the basis for a whole song. Walter just uses 3 melodic ideas in the intro (in my view) and 3 in the solo (1 of which is also in the intro- the turnaround lick,as is often the case)

He uses the same turnaround (or v similar) in other tunes.
I'm not sure, but this 1960 record must be close to his last 'hit'? I'll have to look that up now.

There's a very neat lick in the solo, over the IV chord. It's taken me a while to get. I still forget it at times, but practice several times a day and it's getting 'stickier' I can tell.
Playing it all slowly helps the timing
That lick is in essence 3' 2 3" 2" 2 3' 2 but you need to get the rhythm and time right of course
It begins with a pickup 1 +2 2 then the lick above which is immediately repeated with a small variation 3' 2 3" 1 2 3' 2 so the whole thing occupies the IV chord space and it's cool.
Both the intro and solo demonstrate a similar approach to construction and there is enough similarity in what is actually played that the help the song hang together.
Anyway, I can make a little video to demonstrate it if there is any interest.

Nice! I finally got to hear it. Sorry, no wifi in the new house STILL! Lol. So my phone data is taking a beating.

That was nice BEE. Well played Sir.

I would really like to steal the turnaround from this aswell. Turnaround licks are one of my shortcomings. No matter how great of an improv I do, I always resort to the select few turnaround ( V Cord ) licks I use. I really need to get some more good ones in the bag.

This is a very nice tune. Im definitely interested in learning it.

This is really good.

(added some padding as my last post was lost in spam land).

Super bee - very well done amigo. It appears you play the harp upside down like Lee Sankey does?

I hadn't noticed that. No, I can't manage it around that way. Must be a YouTube thing to reverse the image. Good catch. Might make it tricky to display written material.
