Hi guys,

Been a while since I've been on here! It's my crazy season for work so in order to have any time to play I've had to swear off forums for the time being!
Anyway, back to the point.
I recently purchased a Blackstar HT 1R amp.
It's a 1 watt, all tube amp with a tiny footprint and built in reverb.
In short, is fantastic. Great tone, simple and perfect volume for home practice (bit loud at times!) . AND is got a headphone output which is essential for me.
There was very little online about harp players using the HT series amps so tried one out at my local guitar shop and wasn't disappointed.
There is one eq knob to move it from a clean tight sound to a warmer deeper sound. Then an overdrive and gain adjustment which can get great crunch.
I'm sure that amp pros wouldn't be happy with the tube configuration or something but for me it's pretty special.
So if you want something small, with great tone and simple controls... this may be worth looking at.

I'm no amp pro but I'm an enthusiastic amateur. And I'm interested in the 'tube configuration'.
I'll look it up

I went through a phase of trying every amp I could to see what worked and what didn't. I remember the little Blackstar which seemed to be lovely for a certain style of guitar, but (I thought at the time) the exact opposite of what was needed for harp.

It seemed to be no better than a fuzzbox, and give a creamy kind of distortion rather than the rattley, crackly sound I was hearing from everyone as 'the small amp sound' e.g. a Champ. However, now I understand that one mic's signal output may be widely different from another's and so my view may be invalid.

I think I tried it with a cupped SM57-with-IMT which could have simply overwhelmed it.

Using it on the clean channel, low reverb, mid gain , volume max, eq warm and woody and the thing wails. Lovely and warm but with a nice break up.
The best bit is is so small and simple.
