I find that if i'm playing long passages where i'm up and down the harp without taking a break that my lips become really dry and stick on the cover plates and i have to stop and moisten them again. Do you guys get that and what do you do to get round it? I read somewhere that someone put some kind of substance on the cover plate that keeps it kind of slick but maybe i read it wrong as i've never heard anyone else speaking about it!

This will happen to me on occasion. What I do while making the run is just moisten my lips real quick in between notes. Only takes a 1/2 second. Depending on the phrasing and/or speed of the run, I can skip a note if I have to. By skipping a note here and there in the series you add flavor and build tension. ---------- I'm workin on it. I'm workin on it.

Happens to me a bit but then again, not much. I don't use any lubricant beyond saliva. Might help that I'm tongue blocking all the time

Yes, it happens to me sometimes after playing for a long time. I try to find an appropriate pause to moisten my lips like 2chops says. I also drink water before playing.
I did see a YouTube video where the guy (don't know who he was) licked the harp before playing it. I haven't tried this but obviously the logic behind it was to make sure it was easy to move around.

When my lips get dry I know my embouchure is sucking. Best way to keep your lips & your harp moist is to keep the harp way back in your mouth. The further it gets from your throat the dryer it gets. I always hear Gindick's voice when this happens!
