I'm looking for a low watt or preferably multi watt amp. I've got a couple options in bouncing around. The big thing is that i can play it (and get a good breakup tone out of it. ) at low volume.

The vox da5
Vox AC4TV
Vox AC4TV Mini
Vox mini 5
And possibly the bugera v5
They all have adjustable wattage and are in the same price range.

So this is what in thinking. Any opinions what so ever would be appreciated. Maybe im gong the wrong way. IDK.

I tried every amp I could, including the mini amps and found a surprising range of what seemed to be good and bad for harp. However lovely they sounded with a guitar plugged in, some just gave a smooth fuzz with a harp mic. I never resolved why. Some had real tubes, some were modelling.

What I did find was one I've mentioned a few times and no one else seems to discuss (maybe it's not available in the US) is the Nux Mighty 8. The YT ads are all with wild man shredding a guitar, so it doesn't seem promising, but it has some lower gain settings including a Champ one. When recorded I find it difficult to tell apart from my tube amp. Obviously they sound very different in the room.

Of course I wouldn't suggest you buy one on this recommendation, but if you come across one in a shop do give it a try and prove me wrong! It doesn't have all your iPhone connectivity and all that stuff.

As for the low-power tube amps, I was looking for room-quiet, and found that even 1/4W is surprisingly loud in a quiet house.

....not that I want to dissuade you from buying an amp - in fact I'd like that as you can tell us what it's like :) - but won't you get what you seek from your Harp Attack, just turned down?

Yea your prolly right.
Well the thing is the vht is not very portable and is still pretty loud once i get a good tone with the Harp Attack.
But the roland cube seems pretty good. It just didn't have the adj wattage. But you say that it really doesnt do to much. I ve heard that a few other places aswell, that the adjustable wattage is not as effective as you would think.

Perhaps just a SS is what i need. If i combine a SS like the cube or da5 with the HarpAttack it should do what i want.

I want a battery powered aswell, so i can play it anywhere. I have a honeytone. And while it sounds great it just doent have the capability to really get punchy bass. I know I'm walking a fine line here and kinda wanting everything in one amp. But i think with the right amp i can make it work.

Thanks mtg. Ill let you know what i land on and how it works out.

Shoot me down in flames if you like, but how about the Fender Mini 57 Twin!!!

"1 watt of raging power! 2 two-inch speakers! Real Tweed Covering! Real Leather handle!"

I did you the courtesy of recording a snippet of my practice this afternoon through it. Stand well back.

Seriously though, it is useful because it's got a separate gain and a tone control that actually does something. And it does add a nasty (i.e. good) sharp edge to the notes - unlike other little amps I tried that added soft fuzz. I think it's the tiny speakers distorting, as when I listen to the signal out of the headphone socket it's quite different: soft fuzz.

And here's a video of PJ Harvey singing through one, which fully validates it in my eyes.

Yea i looked at those when i was buying the honeytone. They didnt seem bad. If i was going to go that route i think i would get a blackstar fly3. They are sick.

I think I've made a decision. I'm going with the DA5.
