I'm happy to announce that Jason Ricci will be joining the HCH lineup as a fully participating member of our teacher/performer staff. He will be there for the duration and will get his big stage time. Jason tells me that he has never stepped on stage with Sugar Blue. We're going to make that happpen. Jason is a passionate and inspiring teacher, a guy who shares his knowledge freely, as those who have sampled his YouTube lessons know. I'm delighted at this addition to our program. Jason will decide at a later date what sort of band or duo he'll bring in. He lived and gigged in North Mississippi for quite a while, back in the day, and he's got lots of choices among local musicians. I suspect we're going to hear "Down at the Juke."

Jimi Lee, who was previously going to join us in a semi-limited capacity to hang out and deliver one lecture--because I just didn't have the budget to pay him what he deserves--has now been upgraded to full teacher/performer status. This, too, is great news. Jimi is arguably the best and most experienced harmonica teacher on our entire staff. He was a regular at several dozen of Gindick's camps. He is a master teacher--filled with ideas and able to connect with players of any level. He's also a late-night hanging-out-and-jamming madman. Fasten your seatbelts.

These two developments were made possible by the fact that Doug "Joe Lee" Bush and Trip Henderson recently informed me that they would be unable to join us. We're sorry to lose them. But we're truly delighted at how things have turned out.

On a personal note: It was thanks to Jason's inspiration and advice that I decided to take the plunge with HCH 2010. In fact, both he and Mr. Satan were supposed to have been part of that event. Now both of them WILL be a part of the second go-round. We'll see you there.

Here's the lineup:

§SUGAR BLUE and his band

§JASON RICCI and the Hill Country All-Stars

§CHARLIE SAYLES with Tony Fazio

§SATAN AND ADAM with STERLING MAGEE on guitar and ADAM GUSSOW on harp (featuring a special "sundown at the crossroads" meetup outside Oxford, Mississippi on Friday, May 20th AND the release of a new Satan & Adam album, FEEL THE HEAT. Come celebrate Mr. Satan's 75th birthday in a once-in-a-lifetime setting!

§SONNY BOY TERRY and his Houston-based blues band

§JIMI LEE (Austin's rack-harp virtuoso...singer/songwriter/guitarist/bluesman), showcasing his "GrooveTrax" with a lecture entitled "Every Groove a Bluesman Needs to Know."

§DEAK HARP (James Cotton's protege)

§BRANDON BAILEY (teen phenom with his loop-based "Memphis Grooves")

§BILL "HOWL-N-MADD" PERRY (Hill Country bluesman extraordinaire!)

§SHINE TURNER (Delta guitar-man, formerly with drummer Sam Carr)

Plus two special sessions:

§Greg Heumann (BlowsMeAway harp mic guy): "Everything You Wanted to Know About Mics, Amps, and Amplified Tone"

§Wayne Snyder (Gussow YouTube tabbing expert): "Can I Get a Bend With That? Creating Your Own Blues Harmonica Tabs"

Adam,

I think you're going to need to have the Hollowell's build another stage and pavillion for this lineup!!!

You just made my YEAR with this announcement. May cannot come soon enough.

See you there,

I had a lot of Crown Royal waiting for Joe Lee as I had promised for HCH2. I have really enjoyed his posts and style and thought he would be a great person to meet and to glean old school knowledge.

However, HOLY CRAP! what a lineup!

Adam, you are going to have to stop posting this kind of news or I am going to need some kind of medication. I have a very healthy heart, but I don't think I should be this excited for that long.

congragulations Adam! You should consider changing careers from the university to concert promotions. I know how much work goes into events like this one and not many people, especially musicians, can pull it off. I hope the turnout generates a sizable profit for all involved so it can continue!
