Your "acoustic" guitarist is TOOO LOUD! He also doesn't know "pocket" playing

This is a mournful song by Memphis Minnie. Turn him WAY down. He don't understand and is a stage hog.
He thinks it's a rock anthem. It's a blues ballad, about thousands of people dying because others didn't care.

" about thousands of people dying because others didn't care." ?

according to Wikipedia the "Great Mississippi Flood of '29" killed 246 people. The article does go on to describe "[strained] interracial relations and Hostilities" in the floods aftermath.

I second Stickmans comment Steve. I've really enjoyed watching your progress/work and applaud you for going out there and "doing it". Very inspirational.

I look forward to your demo. Have a great 2011.

BTW if yall can't tell, this is probably my favorite blues song of all time. According to I tunes I have listen to it over 150 times, and that is just on my computer. Who knows how many times I have played it on the cd player in my truck. I, once, even performed a (really bad) version of this song on stage with none other than the Great Adam Gussow.

Another great version of this tune was done by the Late Great John Cambell from Shreveport,Louisiana in the early 90,s.If you hav,nt heard his version check it out sometime. Our band covered his version a few yrs back, its definitely a crowd pleaser.BTW Steve I was wondering if you ever play straight through the vocal mic, especially in the acoustic type settings? No offense intended but I think on certain songs you could add more diversity with cupping, hand wahs etc.

Wow Stickman...those girls got some mad crazy skills!! : )

The singer sounds like the girl from Heart and the guitar player looks like her sister too.

Zep was never sued over the use of parts of the song-they changed some of the lyrics, and at the time, and still to this day,the song is public domain while the Zep version is copyright protected.
Page reverse echo'ed the harp to give it it's distinct sound on the studio version.

@Stickman,never heard of these chicks but they rock. I've been a Zep fan since I was 14, I'm 51 now and still get into the music like I did in my younger days. Been working with my band to try and work a Zep song into the set list. Thanks for the video and the candy.
@ Steve, the guitar is drowning out your harp, maybe it's just the recording?

This is a version that I enjoy. Kent is a friend of mine and I have had the pleasure of accompanying him.
