Hmmm! Not sure if you're pulling my plonker here. Is this a US joke? What's the yellow stuff? Is it round section silicon? Is it to improve the airtightness seal?
I did something similar with liquid latex. It was OK ish.

yes nac! that's because it is hollow tubing and not insulated wire.
wire would give, but not spring back- therefore creating a worse seal than you started with.

"It's just a yellow rubber cord".
You mean it's not a scientifically tested yellow silicon round sectioned material, specially designed to absorb unwanted microtonal accoustic resonances which may migrate from one reed chamber to another, therby causing interference patterns which would make the 13th position playing of Oh Susannah, sound like shit? Well you know what you can do with that then.

Thanks for the tip. I'm just venturing into the tinker/customize stage so I'll definitely try this out.
TSA always gives me gruff when I come through with a harp or two in my carry on. Always. Even when I tell them, "Those are harmonicas" as they're studying the screen and looking back at me over their glasses like I'm about to be a felon. Then after they finally pull me out of line, they very delicately remove the case from the pocket (the case that says harmonica), and then wince as they open it. Guess if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it very well could be a bo... I won't say it. Rant over.
Thanks again for the tip!

i used some hollow tubing of dubious origin. then i went out and bought some ear plugs yesterday with the solid cord as pictured. it almost does two harps. make sure your razor or exacto knife is super sharp so the cord doesn't roll and you slip and cut the comb. ---------- MP hibachi cook for the yakuza doctor of semiotics superhero emeritus
