SAME PRINCIPLE applies to crystal microphone elements. In the case of the watch, you put a tiny current into a crystal, and get mechanical motion as a result. In the case of the microphone, sound waves transfer mechanical energy to the crystal which makes an electric current. ---------- /Greg
