Hi guys,
I've spent the last weeks listening/jamming to "Alone and Acoustic" (1981) by Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, I must say I fell in love with this style of music and I was wondering if any of you have suggestions for similar CDs to get...
This CD has a lot going for it, in no particular order, the music is superb, great continuity, most songs are in E (A harp), the harp is not overly present, just like I like it..
Anyway this disk was perfect for me and I can't find any other like it, your help is appreciated..
Thanks
EDIT:
If you want to listen to it: http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:aifuxqegld0e click on the little speakers next to the song titles..

Different blues genre (Piedmont) but equally as stellar. Check out any Cephas & Wiggins.

Sonny Boy Williamson II did an album called "Keep it to Ourselves" which is acoustic and truly excellent.
Anything by Cephas and Wiggins, Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan and of course Sonny Terry and Brownhie McGhee are also acoustic blues that I highly recommended.

I just picked up The Junior Wells and Buddy Guy CD "Alone & Accoustic" along with Kenny Neal and Billy Branch "Double Take" a couple of weeks ago.
Another one I plan on picking up (or downloading) is Carey & Lurrie Bell's "Second Nature".

Some of my favorites are the old-school duos. There's a Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee compilation called "California Blues" that is excellent. I've got some early Sonny Terry with Blind Boy Fuller too. I also like the earliest Sonny Boy Williamson I stuff, with Big Joe Williams on guitar. ----------

The Sonny Boy Williamson recordings that were done in Europe with Memphis Slim, Matt Murphy and Bill Stepney are fabulous. The backing is sparse and very nice.
If you want a CD w/o harp to jam to in the acoustic vein, I would suggest tracking down a copy of Magic Slim's acoustic CD on the Wolf label.
One of my favorite duo CD's is with Big Walter Horton and Robert Nighthawk called, "An Offer You Can't Refuse". Big Walter's playing is not acoustic, but it sure is bad ass.
Another good CD is called "Back To The Country" by Johnny Shines and Snooky Pryor. John Nicholas and Kent Du Shane play guitar on it as Johnny Shines' playing was affected by a stroke.
"Acoustic Blue Chicago" is also really nice. Johnny B Moore and Willie Kent do several tunes on that CD. Along with special guests Bonnie Lee and harp player Lester Davenport.
One last CD that is great is called "Chicago Blues at Home" on the Testament label. It's got some fabulous acoustic Blues by Louis Myers, Bob Myers, Johnny Littlejohn, Eddie Taylor, Homesick James, Jimmy Rogers and Johnny Shines. Those guys were sitting around the house playing acoustic Blues. Fabulous stuff. There isn't harp on all of these tracks.
Those ought to get you started.

beltone et al.:
Thanks for the tips, I just picked up "Buddy and the juniors" and that's just perfect for me right now..
But... I'm still stuck at a level where I must get the right key of the songs somewhere... It sucks to be stuck at that level after 10 months but it's my reality.
Anyone has these songs keyed?
Thanks everybody

Almost forgot the great west-coast Canadian acoustic blues slide player Ken Hamm. Several of his albums have some killer harp. Check this out.

Lots more off this album on youtube. I'll have to look up the harp players name when I get home.

There are two albums by "Little Hatch" (Hatch Provine).
"Goin' Back" and another one I can't think of right now.
Just harp and guitar. Simple and soulful stuff.
The "Memphis BBQ Sessions" with Big Jack Johnson and Kim Wilson is some very good listening as well.
