I have a small behringer mixer that I used to use with my keyboard.
It has Mic gain and EQ and the normal stuff a mixer has. Do you guy like to use a mixer or does it really change the tone more so then Miced straight into the amp? Am I just adding more stuff into the input chain then I really need.
I will definitely experiment but just curious the popular consensus.
Thanks 528hemi

I use a small 6 channel mixer to input the harp, drum machine and one guitar. The PA I use is simply to small to handle all the things into it effectively. I don't think there is any affect on the sound at all but I do find that I can control the mix better because I get an extra level of tone and volume control. ---------- "Keep it in your mouth" - XHarp

@ 528Hemi "Am I just adding more stuff into the input chain then I really need." Yes, probably.
What is the purpose of the mixer in this scenario, are you using it as a device to send the amplified harp signal to a larger power amp? If so, it's more typical to take the feed from a mic in front of the speaker, or a line out, rather than insert the mixer between harp/mic & harp amp.
Or, are you using it to mix various sound sources, including harp into one instrument/harp amp?

I have seen plenty of players using a mixer between the mic and amp with no problems.

I use a little Brehringer mixer with 2 mics for voice and harp, a guitar, and foot-drums--all patched into one small amp.
I like the control with a mixer, and I can have HiZ and LowZ stuff into the same amp.
One thing I like in a rig is portability--since I also play guitar when I perform, I have a whole wagonload of shit to carry around--sometimes that can be a real problem.
However, I don't feel very expert on the question of whether or not it gives the best possible harp sound--I've never had a real dedicated harp amp to compare to--and I just play the harp acoustically into the same mic I sing into. The sound is acceptable to me. . .
