I have not played in quite a while but I have a rack and its the old cheapo kind and I am wanting something that would put the harp higher up and also be able to change the angle more downward into my mouth/lips. Mine is about 5 3/4" up for the vertical part of the rack. What other options are currently out there that would raise the harp up higher and be able to change the harp angle? I see there is a Hohner Flex rack and a Seydel but would like to hear from someone who has tried these or others before dropping that kind on cash on them. Thanks

#4 is me, #2 is John Frazer, the guy who got me started on harp. We were in a band that played a hotel in El Centro for 6 weeks, he was the drummer and I played guitar, mandolin and fiddle.
He has a video up where he plays Whammer Jammer while playing drums.

I have tried most every one, modified most all, over the past 50 years. Farmers foot drums makes the best IMO. Simple, light, and unobtrusive. Most rack players complain about the rack being uncomfortable but in reality it is their confusion/frustration with not being able to do what they do when it is in their hands and the only instrument they are playing. It is a brain thing that takes a long time to get good at.

"I have a rack and its the old cheapo kind and I am wanting something that would put the harp higher up and also be able to change the angle more downward into my mouth/lips"

I would start with a ' Hohner flex rack'--

starting with a standard rack, will give u a false idea of whats possible with rack

the harp should be pointing a little downward, when entering mouth----most standard racks point up

" I have a rack and its the old cheapo kind and I am wanting something that would put the harp higher up and also be able to change the angle more downward into my mouth/lips"

ONCE U HAVE PLAYED A 'MODIFIED RACK' AT THE CORRECT ANGLE
U WILL NOT LIKE STANDARD RACKS
