I thought I'd start a thread specifically for people who want to try out embedding video, posting pics and sound clips, links and what not to practice. So open a window to the forum how to and work out the bugs in your html.
A tune I'm working on- Thumper (File from FileSocial) Sorry for the bit about 30 seconds in. I'm using a weird technique and it fell apart for a few seconds. It was really just an exercise in recording.)
Link to Thumper Edit- I guess taking the link out of the page HTML doesn't work with filesocial. The link expires. That's annoying. Well, here is a link to the page at least. I'll have to find a different audio hosting site.
A picture of what I'd look like if I held my breath until I turned blue...
Jaybird- There are kids on this site! And people who don't have easy access to eye-bleach. Maybe you could put a giant Lee Oskar mustache on the one cheek. And as Honkin pointed out, the harmonica is facing the wrong way.
Great idea nacoran... I'll post all stuff here, everybody feel free to test at will.
SOME NIFTY HTML STUFF
To avoid mistakes don't start to type all the codes. Just select it, right-click 'copy' and right-click 'paste'.
To link stuff post <a href="INSERT_URL_HERE" target="_blank">LINK</a> It will appear as LINK. You can get any URL, just copy/paste from your address bar.
To post a picture post <img src="INSERT_URL_HERE"> You can get the url of any picture on the web by clicking on it and selecting 'properties'.
To embed a YT-clip is actually the easiest: Right beside the video there's a little text box with the caption 'embed'. Just copy/paste the text into the forum and the vid will appear.
To insert a soundfile post <embed src="INSERT_URL_HERE" width="350" height="40" autostart="false" type="audio/mpeg" loop="false"></embed>
It will show as
In this case it's Wild Bill Phillips 'Pebble In My Shoe' and the URL is "http://www.itriser.com/harmonica/WildBillPhillips-PebbleInMyShoe.mp3"
To find out where you can upload your files check out the forum how-to.
To make something bold, <b>WRITE TEXT HERE</b>. To make something italic, <i>WRITE TEXT HERE</i>.

"I think you misunderstand the gentleman's invitation"
Well, the caption says "a satisfied customer plays old man river", so I didn't think of it as an invitation as much as I did a demonstration. And, as wild as it would be to witness somebody blowing "old man river" through their ass......somebody blowing "old man river" ...through their ass....from the wrong side of the harmonica?
1. If you add target="_blank" to the html, it opens the link in its own window, so you don't leave the forum.
2. Its also a good practice to use the URL itself as the text between the tags. That means that people who print the page, or the visually impaired who use screen reader software have access to the URL itself.
OT means 'off topic' OP which is also somtimes used means 'original post' as in the post starting the thread. ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!
This video might deserve its own thread but its probably been posted before and I'll see if i remember how to embed (only tried once before). It starts with Amazing Grace but I'd recommend jumping to 7:30 to watch Whammer Jammer!
My posting or his playing? Probably the worst playing I've heard. I'm not sure if he's doing it as a joke or really thinks he's playing. I'm assuming the former. If not, perhaps Adam could start a scholarship at Hill Country Harmonica for people like this! ---------- Ozark Rich
Could you remove it? It might be pretty confusing for people without those uber skillz... Plus, it covers the 'back' link. ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!
Nasty, that's not HTML; that's grade school stuff, BUT it appears there's a way to do it in HTML. Perhaps that's what's being referred to. Here's a link.
Yeah, no offense Nasty, but punctuation and pressing 'enter' to separate your thoughts would make them much easier to read. You have some pretty interesting and funny posts, and they would be much easier to interpret if you did this. :-) ---------- > Todd L Greene. V.P.
oh my goodness! did we address an issue with nasty and it not turn heated? wholly cow it CAN be done...it's all good nasty, i dont use caps... ---------- Kyzer's Travels
ozark.. best vid ever, i couldnt stop watching, it was like a train wreck...sounds like my dog grabbed my A harp and was playing keep away from me around the house with it...lol... ---------- Kyzer's Travels
It's stupid. All the uploading sites want you to download from their site, and they don't allow good embedding functions.
The best one I found was http://www.4shared.com. However, you have to sign in with an email address (for free) and the account gets deleted if you don't log in every 30 days.
There is a nice embedding fuction which displays as follows:

html is very fussy and unforgiving. One minor mistake and at best it ignores you and at worst it completely screws the layout up. reading your post makes me wonder if you have the quotation marks in the exact correct places.
your code has to follow this format:
<a href="http://www.yourURL.com" target="_blank">your link text (will appear blue and underlined)</a>
Jaybird you can control the hight of the visualisation screen by changing the parameter in hight="xx". with a value of 19 it will only leave the 'player bar'. ---------- germanharpist on YT. =;-) - Resonance is KEY!
