Seth's an old friend of mine, and a fine harmonica player. Very experienced teacher. Since people occasionally email me to ask about where they can find a harp teacher in a particular city, and since I know you Philly blues harmonica people are out there, I'm sharing the contents of an email I just received from SH:
Dear Fellow Harmonica Enthusiasts, I am sending you this letter to announce that I will be teaching some harmonica classes very soon. Some of them begin this coming Monday night, January 25, and the rest begin in February and March. This letter is being sent to many people - many of my current and former harmonica students who took classes or private lessons with me, and some others who expressed interest in my harmonica classes. Also included are some highly skilled and professional harmonica players who may want to pass this information on to some people they know who may be interested in taking harmonica classes (or private lessons). Please forgive me if I am sending this to you in error! If you do not want to receive any more information about my harmonica classes and want me to delete you from this mailing list please let me know. You can reply and ask to be deleted from my "All Harmonica Students Mailing List" or some similar message. With this mailing list I announce upcoming harmonica classes, workshops, seminars, etc. If you would like to be added to (or deleted from) another mailing list I have - my "Gig Announcement Mailing List," please let me know. (Note: My Gig Announcement Mailing List always says "SHAKAZH Gigs" in the subject heading of the emails I send out. SHAKAZH is an acronym for Seth Holzman Also Known As Zep Harpo). (You may want to be on both of my mailing lists.) The gig announcements are primarily a listing of my upcoming gigs. ____________________________________________________________________ Here's what I will be teaching beginning this Monday night: - "Beginners Harmonica For Adults (Ages 13 and above)" (also known as "Harmonica 1"), from 6:30 to 7:45 PM, and - "Rock 'n' Roll Harmonica 1" from 8:00 to 9:15 PM. Classes will begin Monday night, Jan. 25, and run for 8 weeks on Mon. nights through March 22 (no class Feb. 15). Classes will be held at the offices of the Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS) on Emlen Street in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia, PA. These Monday night classes are simultaneously being offered by two different organizations: the Philadelphia Folksong Society (PFS) and the Mount Airy Learning Tree (MALT). For course descriptions, other information, and to register, call the PFS at 215-247-1300, or go to www.pfs.org. Or you can call MALT at 215-843-6436 or go to www.mtairylearningtree.org. (Please note that the MALT print catalog incorrectly has Blues Harmonica 1 listed as the class being offered from 8:00 to 9:15 PM, when in fact I am teaching Rock 'n' Roll Harmonica 1. Their website, however, has the correct course listed.) ___________________________________________________________________ And starting Tuesday, Feb. 23, I'll be teaching 9 week classes on Tuesday nights: - "Harmonica for Beginners" (also known as "Harmonica 1"), from 6:30 to 7:55 PM, and - "Rock 'n' Roll Harmonica 1" from 8:05 to 9:30 PM. Classes will begin Tuesday night, Feb. 23, and run for 9 weeks on Tues. nights through April 27 (no class March 30). Classes will be held at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA. These Tuesday night classes are being offered by the Main Line School Night Association (MLSNA). For course descriptions, other information, and to register, call the MLSNA at 610-687-0460, or go to www.mainlineschoolnight.org. ___________________________________________________________________ And starting Thursday, March 18, I'll be teaching 8 week classes on Thursday nights: - "Learn To Play The Harmonica" (also known as "Harmonica 1"), from 6:30 to 7:50 PM, and - "Harmonica 2" from 8:00 to 9:20 PM. Classes will begin Thursday night, March 18, and run for 8 weeks on Thursday nights through May 20 (no class April 1 or April 22). Classes will be held at Peirce Middle School in West Chester, PA. These Thursday night classes are being offered by the Chester County Night School (CCNS). For course descriptions, other information, and to register, call the CCNS at 610-692-1964 or www.chestercountynightschool.org. __________________________________________________________________ Thanks for your interest in harmonica playing! Best, Seth

I've known Seth for like a year, he's in our harmonica club too. He frequently has 2-3 gigs a week in different parts of PA & I think is in 3 different bands. I'm on his mailing list too :) .

Seth ruined my life 10 years ago when I took his class. I only played guitar then and I have come far. In fact I tell that to my students at Chester County Night School ---------- James Day www.jamesday.com New Orleans Music
