How do the Youtube counter works? Can anyone explain the following: I put my “Whammer Jammer” Youtube video on Modern Blues Harmonica Facebook site a couple of days ago. It was then watched 447 times. I'm sure it has been watched through MBH the site, since it has been commented and it has got some thumbs up. Can anybody tell me how those counters work. The video was still watched the same 447 times this morning, mara
It only updates periodically once you get to a certain level. (I want to say it's 301 views? I seem to remember the way that it was coded 300 was the turnover.) The idea is it can instantly count your first few views. It doesn't matter much if you watch your own video a few times and until you get to a certain point it's not going to bump your views enough to get google recommendations. At a certain point they start double checking all the views though to make sure that you aren't using some sort of scam to inflate it so the views stop showing up until they are verified.
If you google Youtube 301 views you'll see some videos on it. (Not sure if that's still how they do it, but it was at one point.)
