Hey guys,

I know 3rd position is generally for minor-key Blues, but are there any major key songs played in 3rd? Can it be done. I'm talking strictly Blues here.

Yep, in the low octave its just as easy to play major as minor. In the middle your can just work around the 5 draw if you like, thats the only real ‘minor’ note, and even then its more a question of emphasis than outright character

I should have said ‘as long as you can play the 2 draw half step’.

The minor third played by the melodic player (you) sounds fine during a major blues.

Hell yes. William Clarke is best known for 3rd position swing tunes. If you're learning 3rd, I think there's two approaches:
1) minor tunes or very bluesy approach
2) major approach, like the one below:

Here's a link to one of the songs of mine that's in 3rd position. (Don't know how to post videos) https://youtu.be/kV7476gLhrs

Sometimes I'll switch between 2nd when soloing and 3rd when backing others. It's especially useful if the band does a lot of songs in the same key(s) - you can play some in 3rd (not just 1st & 2nd) to vary your sound.

Also, check out Kim Wilson's Got to Let you Go, Smoking Joint album for some great smooth 3rd position playing.

This approach is used in Muddy Water's I Just Want to make Love to You. My favorite harp solo of all time.
