"True, halve-valved" harps are available from Suzuki (Promaster valved) and Seydel (PT Gazell method). But serviceable valves can be made from many materials.

You think you could lay off the shouting? We're a pretty responsive group, there's no need for it.

When you type in all captials that is considered shouting. As to your question: I have owned and played the 008LS. It's a nice harp at a good price and a great way to try a half valved harmonica without investing too much.

I have one of those. Overall, tight and responsive. However, there is valve rattle on a few holes, and overall the gapping is a bit tight - it needs to be a bit higher on half-valved harps as valves take away the "shock absorber" effect of having both reeds receive air at the same time, so that one can leak out excess airflow from the other. The Gazell method harps take this into account in their setup.

I've got one in C; I like it a lot. I can get two semitone blow bends on hole 7. Can't do that one my valved Promasters

@root: that's because there is no inside valve in hole 7 on the Promaster, only the outside valve. Put one in and you will be able to blow valve-bend it the same way.

@Winslow: I agree about the valve rattle on The Easttop half-valved diatonics. I got a batch of Paddy Richter half-valved harps made by them to sell with my "Play Irish Music on the Blues harp" book, but unfortunately had to return them because of this issue.
