I understand micing an amp with the mic off center and at a slight angle. Most of the soundguys I come across in town will mic my amp with this method. I also understand that in a multi-speaker array where the speakers are different sizes on can choose a certain speaker depending on what you're after. I was curious if anyone with experience and knowledge has thoughts on multi-speaker arrays where the speakers are the same size, specifically 8x8" suitcase amp?

I would pick one of the 8 speakers that lined up best with my mic. If you wanted an overall amp sound during recording use a second mic placed further from the amp - maybe 1-2' away. You will obviously get 'bleed' if you are recoding or playing live in the room with a band - so that would be better for overdubs.
