So I play through an Epiphone Valve Junior (no settings at all but volume) and use an SM57 mic. I just got an EQ pedal to play with and am inpressed with how it drastically changed the amp.

Just curious what settings everyone uses for EQ? Seems like setting them like an "A" with pronounced mids is the best so far. I have used the decibel boost to get a nice drive to the amp too which was an added bonus.

Playing with tone this way opens a whole new world of sound.

stuff I found on line

Harp Freq Response = 174 – 3135 hz [not inc overtones] overtones is probably the reason u must concern yrslf freq higher than 3135hz
------------------
Put the Boss GE-7 first in the chain (after the wireless receiver)
Put 1600k knob (3rd from the right) all the way down.
-----------------

100hz: If u r playing live, u can remove some of this
because that is bass player territory.
-----------------
200hz and 400hz:
This is where the low mids of the harp lives.
It dependes on the harp and the amp, but a boost here is usefull.

----------------
800hz: level it at 0.

----------------
1.6khz:
Where the definition of harp lives.
Boost here to cut the mix better.

------------------------------------------
3.2khz:
remove a few db from here
if your tone knob does not goes this far

---------------------------------------------
6.4khz:
remove 5db to 10db. u dont use this frequencies
but your mic can pick it up really fast (feedback)
---------------------------------------------
Gain: This is the trick. If you put down the gain by -10db...
u get a Mojo Pad
It is the same principle, lowering the gain b4 the amp,
so that would help a lot.
-------------
Shrieking, piercing feedback, [ 4k-10k]
or a real crunchy, tinny sounds can be addressed in this band.

Just pasted and copied my stuff I got online
hope it helps

I have an epi as well with a treble cut tone control mod---consider finding someone who will put one in

also if u want to have an easy "line out" -- to go to pa or bigger amp check out--
http://thesquealkiller.com/the-piggy-back/

with a "line out"u can use yr small amp almost like a pedal--go to pa then eq ----u will then be able to use the eq pedal as a lead pedal to boost and eq on pa for backing sound or combinations there of

one thing for sure I can't hear the epi with any spkr 10" whatever--on stage with a band--I have to mic it or line out it

I finally got a fake bassman "peavy 4x10" I love it as well I CAN HEAR MYSELF NOW---but even with that I mic through pa for monitors and FOH
Peace out

I've been reading this with interest as I know so little about it. We got a new setup where I can adjust each channel for the 1st time.
I did try the 240-250hz..it does sound nice and doesn't affect the vocals as they are on their own. ..

There are times I want to match with the vocals note for note, so I think I can save various settings if I need to change it for those particular songs..I'll be curious if I need to..

I started out with a Champ, volume/6 to 8, treble/1 to 3, bass/7. This set up prevented the feed back and I usually got a honkin` tone for a 5w. amp. this is my home amp and setup. When I`m playing out I mostly use a 65w. music man, volume 7/9,treble 2/3, middle,3/5, bass 7/9 than on master I set anyware from 5/9 I can control feedback with master, and with a little adjusting ,I can get a big fat honking tone. I`ve been using this musicman since 1978.....
