Very annoying. These guys should put these sort of educational videos on TradeBit or something for $1 and maybe make a short trailer video for it on YouTube. I've been listening to jazz about as long as I've been listening to blues and playing harmonica but I'd still really like a short course on how to listen to jazz if it would enrich the experience.

Excellent post. I posted a thread or comment about this very topic a long time ago here. I was trying to teach myself Cream's Sunshine of your Love on guitar. I found some kid on youtube who had it down and was an excellent teacher. Went back a day later, gone for copyright infringment (and he wasn't even using the actual recording, just demonstrating the licks) .

I went on a minor rant about it basically saying I didn't see how the kid's video was taking a penny out of the pocket of any of the copyright holders (if anything it would only serve to increase interest in the song), whom I think I referred to as Nazis. I have to laugh, because I expected more empathy from the board. If i remember correctly, the sentiment was "well artists deserved to get paid so we've got no problem with it". That'll teach me. Anyway, liked the post because now I know how it happens.

By the way, I used to be against all the actual real pirating that goes on. But that experience flipped me. I figure if the labels can be so heavy handed with their rights, that some teenager on the internet can't even show somebody how a riff is played, then I don't give a freakin damn about how much money they lose from people rippin and burning actual songs. Have at it lads, they can go F themselves.
