Geyserville has some evacuations.

Greg Heumann and Charlie Musselwhite both live in that area.
Prayers out to both.

Having been through it once, my thoughts are with you.

Think good group thoughts, people

A month and change ago we were in Klamath Ca, almost the Oregon border- about 40 miles south. The Chetco fire in Oregon was another 30 miles northeast of there. Several other fires sprung up in the north over the weeks we were in Klamath. Some were as close as 35 miles upwind. We began smelling smoke in mid August. By just before Labor Day weekend we were seeing ash fall and the smoke was discoloring the sunshine- what little we had in that misty coastal area. At that point we headed south and then east, then north and again east. Threading the needle to just get out of the mess! Pulling a 27' travel trailer slowed us down considerably but we just plodded along, finally after we crossed the Great Divide we began seeing clear skies. Fires were burning in B.C Canada, Montana, Nevada, and Wyoming as well as Cal and Oregon as we headed east on interstates.

While we didn't see any actual fires we were feeling effects of breathing smoke for some time. For a few days after skies cleared we were still coughing and wheezing a bit. Not good for vocalists.

We have regrouped in central Arkansas and soon will be headed back southwest, to winter near Phoenix. Hopefully there's no smoke or fire close by. The fires even a month ago changed our plans. I'd hoped to show Jolene San Francisco, Bodega, Napa, Santa Rosa, and some other cool places while heading south toward 29 Palms, where we'd considered staying for the winter.

It is a disastrous season for our friends in California and our hearts go out to them. I doubt we'll go back.

Charlie evacuated a few days ago. Greg's been watching the horizon. I know three other people who have been burned out, though. And the smoke down here in San Francisco, 50 miles away, has been powerfully thick at times.

My wife works for Brookdale Senior Living, she's a regional--one of her buildings is in Santa Rosa--well, it was, it burned to the ground.
They got all the residents out safely, so that's a plus.
The hotel she used to stay at was wiped out too, as was a picturesque barn on the same street--

Here's an article.

Ugly business.
So far, I have three friends who lost their homes.
