I just picked one of these up but I'm not too slick with electronics.

I'm using an SM57 - Carbon Copy Delay - Bassman LTD.

I'm trying to get more volume without feedback.

How would you suggest setting the EQ and should it go 1st in the chain?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

sm57 - impedance transformer - delay- EQ

In the EQ:

- Remove the 6k band, maybe add a hint of 200hz and 1.6k and lower the output gain, maybe at 50% or less. Try sending a smaller signal to your amp.

Hope it helps!

My basic setup is a mike, Harp break,Harp delay and last in the chain a GE7.
I basically use the settings as above but do vary them a little bit depending on the venue.
The GE7 is a great addition to any rig for helping out with feedback issues.Sometimes a small movement on any particular frequency band will solve the problem.
I have tried it as first in the chain but have found with my microphones it seems to work best at the end.YMMV.
Best thing to do is have a play around and sort out what best works for you with your mike and pedal lineup.Have some fun with it.

With the SJ1 Gary said this

Here is one recipe I found, written by a well known amp maker, describing use of GE7 with one of his products:
Connect EQwith all levels flat middle. Slight boost the lower 3 levels, one number.. Now, boost gain just one quarter up, very touchy, or until a bit of feedback.. Now, pull down the 1.6K just halfway down, then pull down the 800ohn slider enough to kill feedback.. Neither should be pulled all the way down, you Need those mids, that is why tone control is higher.. You can even push the higher 4.2K a hair...

Thanks, great information!

I just saw a Squeal Killer for sale at what appears to be a good price.

Do you think that would help along with the EQ or just be overkill?
