I haven't been around here for awhile. Nice to see a good discussion going. First background: I'm a singer and also play guitar and harp. I have used a rack. Hate it (and I have a really good one). I started messing with a couple of stand solutions awhile ago. I have the harp arm just on a SM58. Down side...tone. I'm used to using a Green bullet through a Fender and this is just not the same. Even the cool little attachment for the Green bullet that allows it to fit on a mic stand is slick...but it's still missing a key ingredient--hands to help get that compression. I am really fascinated by some of the stand contraptions out there now. One is wood and allows you to adjust the amount of compression and the wood resonator is pretty amazing.
Bigger issue though is the stand. NOTHING seems stable enough. I am thinking of welding something up. It's just really hard to do a lot of what I typically do with this moving object holding my harp (and I have a a fairly heavy stand). Anyone know of solutions or ideas? I gotta get this set up somehow. ---------- www.bigroadband.com
I have a harp lock and am pretty sure I have that stand. They just move around so damn much it's hard to play well. I'll watch the vid though. ---------- www.bigroadband.com
My issue is that ANY stand I have tried just moves around too much. Having the neck rack is much, much more stable, but I hate the damn thing in front of my face and having to take it on and off, etc. I saw Studebaker John and the Hawks from Chicago recently and John had a harp mic on a stand and played guitar at the same time. I want that, but can't seem to find the right set up. ---------- www.bigroadband.com
