I went and bought a set of five Marine Band Classics from Rockin' Ron. It was a big debate for me...but I will say I loved them from the time I opened the case. They all play ootb better than I expected, only one needed just a touch of gapping..
I no longer wonder what all the fuss was about.....I don't see myself drilling with a hand drill and haven't had a drill press since my move, so for now they are all still using nails. Eventually I may switch them to screws.

I'm glad you scored a good set. Those I've purchased from Ron have been great. That's a good way to get most popular keys, although does Ron give you a choice of keys? The sets I see always include E and have neither F nor Bb In a 5 set I'd want C A D Bb and G or F I think, but those I've seen are always C A D G E.

I have probably never played my E harp, but I did see a folk duo play a piece in B major on telly a while back, and using a I,IV,I,IV chord progression, it works out very well: - One guitar played the E shape on fret 7 and then open. The other guitar had a capo on fret 2 and played the A,D,A,D shapes repeatedly. It was surprisingly successful. ---------- Andrew. -----------------------------------------

the shop next door had 7 drill presses for sale. top quality... $60.00 american.
i long ago made the switch to seydel
" no drilling nessasary"
so i could not justify the small expense.

Super bee yeah....Ron let me switch the e to an F as I had already purchased a Bb Marine Band Deluxe when they were closing out , it gave me an almost perfect set for beginning a new line of harp. Ron will always work with you, which is why I keep my business with him.
1847....I have two and love them, but I needed a more affordable set...I may finish the 1847s one harp at a time...and thanks for the tip on the presses
