I am a traditional blues guy at heart, but often things like this grab my interest. I am very slowly puzzling my way through figuring this song out. If nothing else, it is proving to be a great (albeit very difficult) lesson in bending accuracy!
Has anyone else here ever worked up a version of this song?
Tom ---------- Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars.
This is not an easy tune and the tune is 5/4 and for a lot of musicians not used to anything but 4/4 or 3/4, it can be quite unnerving to say the least. I once saw a chromatic player at a subway station here in Boston do quite the version of it and he had all the Paul Desmond sax parts down cold, but he quit playing music altogether some decades ago. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
I've learned it on chromatic but not diatonic. Even Madcat cheats a little and doesn't hit the right notes but it still works. The head isn't too hard notewise but the timing gives me problems. The B section is tough enough on chrom, bet it's a beast on diatonic.
Oh! Don't get me wrong. This song is way over my head. I don't imagine ever having it "performance ready" or even ever being able to stubble all the way through it. Still, it is serving as a wonderful challenge and a great way to get me to think about and try things I otherwise wouldn't.
