First of all, I appreciate the work & effort which went into this recording. You guys play very well indeed! That said, in my opinion, the song is being played too slowly. This causes the harp tone to drag a bit and the singer ( I believe English is not his first language either) sounds like he's reading and not singing? The slowed play also affects the harp sound making it a bit flat. I am not complaining, I just think that better intonation will happen with increased tempo on this specific song. Give this version a listen for comparison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL9PoalibSc
Tempo has little to do with the intonation of anything here and part of the problem is the time while playing the turnaround and the guitar player is clearly losing the time during the turnaround. When I played this tune with the great Jimmy Rogers, most of the time this was the tempo he usually played it in but the big rub here is the time and tyhe guitar player hasn't quite gotten the groove and feel of playing behind the beat well and basically messed up the time more than anything else. I know the Jimmy Rogers guitar parts cold, even being able to play them myself on guitar and I can clearly hear what's getting messed up. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
