I posted this in the day job thread but felt it deserved better visibility.

Jolene and I have been planning this for several years. Last year we sold the house and bought a nice travel trailer which we've lived in for about 6 months now. Once I'm done doing the day trip in town here I will devote more time to promotion and planning travels. We will work the duo angle mostly but who knows, may meet some rhythm guys here and there and do some work that way as well.
We're putting together a music and travel blog at facebook named Adios Infinity.

Over 40+ years I have done many things to get a loaf of bread on the table. Janitor, dishwasher, order processing/packing, small machine rebuild, assembly work, fabrication, warehouse/delivery, sales, handyman, grounds maintenance, etc.

At this point we decided we need to get on the road, do music, see the sights, and meet the people. We have a cd ready to get recorded and may do that on the road someplace depending on a few factors. But since we have 2 already out we do have something to market as we gig our way around the country. Itinerary is still shaping up. I will post more as things become more solid. I'd dig meeting some of you along the way.
----------

We have taken a lot of time to get this transition started. It's a big change! We anticipate playing as a duo on a lot of our stops across the nation and following the sun, seeing the sights and meeting the people. Promotion is going to be key, and new videos will be part of the package. Lots to do yet both before and after we hit the road for real in about 6 weeks. We're going to do a music/travel blog on Facebook and we're working on a Gofundme page as well. Details on those a bit later.

First stop, New Orleans for a few days! We want to do some busking if weather permits in early April. Any of you who live there feel free to chime in.
Then on to Zachary, north of Baton Rouge, for a Friday night gig at Teddy's Juke Joint on April 14. After that it's north to Clarksdale to hang out at Juke Joint Fest for a few days or so.

Past that it's anyone's guess. We do plan to be in the northeast for summer, Pa. and NY states probably.

I'm a frustrated wanderer, having logged a lot of miles on my thumb in my teens and early 20's before I settled in and became somewhat responsible. But about 38 years later, it's time to get back on the road! Having our home with us will be a real plus. No more motel hell! No more tents!

I still have 13 work days left so I gotta go hit it now.

A couple friends of mine have been living in a motor home, traveling around and playing traditional music for the pas 22 years. They love it, wo. Take a certain temperament to pull that off. Good luck, and enjoy.-Greguldn't have it any other way. Must be great to follow the warm weather around the country

We (partner and I) are currently touring Europe in a Campervan. We are in Spain at the moment. I am on a 12 month sabbatical but going back to work is going to be a challenge!

I have my harps and a small amp with me and am planning on doing some busking.

Best of luck with your travels!

Martin

Jbone...My wife and I live in Williamsport, PA and are close to getting our coffee shop opened. So if you find yourself in our town let me know. We'll be having live music on Friday nights. You'd be more than welcome to play and hock your wares.

Congratulations!

One thought... I have often read stories online about how a musical act had had one of their vans stolen, losing equipment, etc., while the played a gig. I remember reading it happened to Duke Robillard, can anyone verify this?

Being that you will live in your trailer, be extra careful to keep it secured. If it gets stolen you are homeless! How much is one of those "tire boots" parking enforcement people use?

I wish you much success and let us know if you ever book a gig on Long Island during your wanderings. :)

Good advice Cliffy.
Here's a tip for preventing your vehicle getting stolen.
Pick a tyre(or two) and put a nail leaning into the tread at ground level.
Place it appropriate to whether they would have to back it out or just drive straight out.
It has worked for me twice..I used to own some nice cars.
Sure you might have a puncture to repair but a lot better situation than losing your vehicle.
WARNING:
You must not have such a good time that you forget what you have done.Lol

Awesome stuff jb!!!!

My Uncle&Aunt are about to do the same, here in about 3 more years. Enjoy yourselves and be careful! I have spent some time on the road. I recommend bringing something to protect yourselves from the crazies out there! Maybe we'll cross paths someday!

Congratulations jbone. Let me know if you hop the border in New York to Ontario. Could probably find you a gig, definitely busking at local farmers markets of which I do 4 and I am responsible for booking music at 3 of them. June 23rd-25th is our harmonica retreat if that interests you...

kham, since we will be in NY state for the summer Ontario is a definite possibility. Will keep you posted.
Many years ago I got to attend MARIPOSA Int'l Folk Fest on Centre Island at Toronto. Total blast that was!
We're very hip to the farmers market vibe, it's one of our favorite busking deals. But club dates, coffee houses, whatever, we fit well.
Stay tuned and thank you.

Thanks Fil, will do. We'd like to get gigs where we can so any ideas that direction would be a big help. We'll base out of Corning more or less but plan to hit Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Rochester, Maybe Syracuse, even Catskills area if it looks do-able. Since we will have the "house" with us- 27' travel trailer- we can move around some.
