It really is an amazing cast of characters - Lonnie Johnson, Eddie Lang, Carl Kress, Dick McDonough, etc. - very avant garde for the time, the guitar having just recently subplanted the banjo in many bands. Interesting too to see blues man Lonnie Johnson in with this mix of white, jazz / studio types - no problem crossing over blues & jazz styles.
Nice swing and a similar though less refined flavor than their contemporaries, Django Reinhardt and Oscar Aleman
