I have Promasters with stock combs and Blue Moon combs. I play them until a reed gets stuck, and then run them under the faucet and leave them out to dry with the dishes. The stuck reeds free up - sometimes with some blowing by me.
Sometimes I can tell by ear when the reeds are out of tune so I'll get new reed plates. But so far, I'm getting new reed plates about once a year. For comparison, I was going through Lee Oskar plates once a month.
I really like their indestructable nature. Trust me, I'm trying to kill them by blowing too hard, bending too far, and always playing as loud as possible. They put up with all my abuse and bad playing!
Btw, with a Blue Moon custom comb, you can use Manji plates in a Promaster. That adds some raspiness and different tuning. I try to be more gentle with the Manji combs.
