choice selection here, nick. I had the fantastic good luck to see these two at the Catamaran Hotel in San Diego in the Seventies. A loose but solid band, blowing wildly and well, especially Butterfield. He and Danko were a good fit with this unit and it's a shame they didn't work together more.

I saw this tour back in the day. It was in the wake of Butterfield's appearance in "The Last Waltz" and I was thrilled to see the show. Blondie Chapman was the guitarist and was superb, particularly his heart felt version of "Sail On Sailor." While the highlight for many were songs like "Born in Chicago", for me, the song "Unfaithful Servant" was the highlight. It was essential a duet between Danko and the piano player and then Butter stepped up and delivered the most intense solo of the night. The band was certainly on fire and full of energy, but they flamed out within a year with no record but only this recording in its wake, a real pity. Butterfield played in various groups after this, but this was his high water mark in this part of his career, IMHO.

Although they look chummy here I´ve read that they were mostly at loggerheads with one another: Danko was´nt at all interested in playing the blues.
The concert is out as a record, or at least it´s on Spotify, as a "stream". Can´t say the sound is improved, though.
