I'd like to hear it un-amplified, though. I think the distortion muddies my ability to discern the cool things you are doing here. Your playing deserves to be heard plainly and clearly with this particular song in this particular genre any way. Bailey even played it un-cupped.
At least that's the way I see it.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes it has a little rough sound. I used my old tourist camera and a small solid state amp and a mic i modded with a transformer from harpaholic and an element from a vocal mic which gave me an interesting dirty sound. I transformed the camera clip to a sound file and used both files in movie maker and put them slightly out of sync on purpose to have a delay effect. So it was a nice experiment! Recently it was the first time i listened carefully to DeFord Bailey and he is great! I have a rock background and the blues came later so that affects my sound of course. I play acoustic also but there are so many harpists who have the soft approach and i think it is important to take alternative directions. Harmonica doesn't always have to be nice and cosy like Kim Wilson (i love him). And in fact a train is a violent thing. It can kill people. My late father who was a fire fighter once briefly mentioned that he had to pick up the pieces from someone who jumped in front of a train and put them in a plastic bag. The yellow piece on my hat in the video is from his helmet. So maybe my train version is closer to a real train? Another thing is that opinions change over time (with a little practice). The first time i listened to a mahler symphony i was rather questing what is the meaning of this. The first time i tasted laphroigh single malt whisky it was like cigarette butts. However it's very cool to listen to and trying to reproduce great harp stuff that was recorded almost 90 years ago!
Good job Hakan! I like hearing folks play DeFord's stuff and the different way they interpret the music and style. ---------- Wisdom does not always come with old age. Sometimes old age arrives alone.
