Anyone have experience shipping amps from Canada to the U.S. ? I just bought a used small/midsize combo amp (Megatone Wezo ME-18) from a seller in Canada and we're trying figure out the best shipper to use.
Reasonable price is important, but so is making sure I don't get hit with import taxes. Being an american made amp, shipping back to the U.S., it's my understanding that there shouldn't be any import/export taxes, but I've gotten hit with hundreds of dollars of unexpected fees before so.....
Anyone with experience in this area, I'd be grateful for any advice. Thanks.

I sold an amp from Canada to a buyer in the USA and I used Fedex. The buyer and I agreed to split the shipping cost and everything worked out well. I double boxed it and it arrived in mint condition. There was no duty charged under the NAFTA free trade agreement since it was manufactured in the USA. I don't know about any other charges that might exist but FEDEX or any other courier will be able to tell you that.

I have shipped amps, and many other items to the US. As far as I am concerned the best way is Canada Post Expedited Parcle, if it meets the requirements. Not sure ocn the total length as it been awhile, but I think it is something like 210 cm, and up to 60 pounds. Not sure how big your amp is, but I shipped a Bassman by CPC once. Also I think Postal workers for the most part care more than Fed-Ex and UPS drivers. I have never had a problem using the postal system, and its much cheaper than the other guys.
